ABOUT THE PRESS
About Saikyosha
A small Kyoto publisher born from the world of exhibitions.
01 / STATEMENT
What an exhibition cannot keep, we keep in a book.
Saikyosha is the publishing house of SEKI SHIKYO ART LAB. Working in Kyoto since 2016 on exhibitions at museums and galleries, we came to feel the need to preserve, in book form, the works and ideas that disappear when an exhibition closes.
With artists, researchers and cultural institutions, we make monographs, exhibition catalogues, photobooks, research and translations — one book at a time — in Japanese, English and Chinese, in print and as e-books.
02 / PRINCIPLES
What We Do
RECORD
Record
We preserve exhibitions and projects as lasting books, so that art and ideas can still be encountered after the show.
EDIT
Edit
We shape the words and works of artists and researchers into a structure that reaches readers, editing text, images and design into one flow.
DELIVER
Deliver
In print and as e-books, to readers in Japan and abroad — published with ISBN so they can be kept, found and read.
